Teen Service Series - R3010

The West Suburban Humane Society is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization that houses up to 25 dogs and 60 cats at a time. This trip will include a tour of the shelter, a volunteer project (TBD) and time to socialize with the animals. If you are planning to receive service hours with this trip, please bring any forms that need to be signed. Fee includes transportation and supervision.

Babysitter Training - R3014

If you’re between the ages of 11 and 15, you can gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. This class combines video, activities, hands-on skills, training and discussion for a complete learning experience. Babysitter Training shows you how to: respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care; make decisions under pressure, communicate with parents to learn household rules, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children, and diaper and care for infants. Students will receive a certificate upon successfully completing this course. Please bring a sack lunch. This is a cooperative program with Westmont and Clarendon Hills Park Districts.This program is held at Clarendon Hills Park District, 315 Chicago Ave.

Self Defense Seminar - R3031

This workshop is designed to be extremely effective in teaching girls how to protect themselves. The central focus is to create and extremely safe learning environment while ensuring high quality service. All instructors are members of the Bolingbrook Police Department. Training includes practicing in full force self-defense techniques on a padded instructor as well as everyday safety skills which focus on awareness and prevention skills. The workshop emphasizes techniques that can stop an attack without violence. All workshops involve physical practice, role plays and stories to teach skills. Students should wear athletic clothing and gym shoes.
