If you’re searching for a way to earn some much needed service hours, then your search is over. Come spend the morning with other teens for a work-day at the beautiful Lyman Woods Nature Center. Spanning 135 acres and two miles of trails, Lyman Woods connects people with nature and inspires appreciation and stewardship of natural areas through education and recreation. Trip is located at Lyman Woods Nature Center, 901 31st St., Downers Grove.

Babysitter Training - R3014

If you’re between the ages of 11 and 15, you can gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. This class combines video, activities, hands-on skills, training and discussion for a complete learning experience. Babysitter Training shows you how to: respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care; make decisions under pressure, communicate with parents to learn household rules, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children, and diaper and care for infants. Students receive a certificate upon successfully completing this course. Please bring a sack lunch.

Training material is kept simple so it is easy to learn, retain and use. SHARP is focused on increasing awareness of threatening behaviors, avoiding situations when possible and providing defensive skills in case avoidance fails. Topics covered include:

• Situational Awareness
• Avoidance Techniques & more
SHARP will give you confidence through knowledge, understanding of high stress situations, skills to avoid and counter assaults, and empowerment to confront those who try to intimidate you.

The escape room is in Downers Grove but will meet at the Oakbrook Terrace Park District where transportation will be provided. Teen Job Fair - R3037

What are you going to do this summer? Need some extra cash? The summer job search starts now! All job seekers, ages 15-22, are invited to the Westmont Park District to meet with local park district’s that will have representatives available to tell you about their employment opportunities. Fill out an application on site, or take it home with you. Come prepared to ask and answer questions. You can also register for our interview/application training class to gain valuable knowledge on how to prepare an effective application or resume. Find out the most common mistakes teens are making during the job search and interview process. Learn how social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are used by employers to find out about you before you get an interview. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression! There is a fee for the training class, but the job fair is free. Districts that will be present at the job fair include Lisle, Downers Grove, Bolingbrook, Westmont, Oakbrook Terrace, Clarendon Hills, Darien and Woodridge.
